Volunteer Opportunities 

Do you have extra time and a desire to engage more with LVCA's mission? We are recruiting committee members to help our programs grow and succeed. Please contact Heather for more information about each. If you know of someone outside of LVCA that you think would be the right fit for one of the roles, please let us know! 

Wordplay Committee Member

Meetings are held monthly. The 2023 event is scheduled for Thursday, March 30. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Generate sponsor leads from businesses, schools, and other organizations
  • Follow up with previous teams to encourage participation
  • Secures in-kind donations for the raffle
  • Provide feedback on game development
  • Attend the event – assist with the setup and managing of volunteers

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion DEI Committee Member

Attend quarterly meetings exploring ways to make LVCA's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts more impactful.

Current initiatives: 

  • “The Link” is an open group activity designed to gather students, volunteers, and staff together on equal footing. It is an opportunity for tutors and students to learn from one another. Some of these gatherings highlight the skills and talents of students.
  • Help staff embeds DEI into its new tutor training events and in-service training workshops.
  • Help in the recruitment of diverse volunteers for tutoring and Board service. LVCA is actively looking outside its usual circles for new volunteers.
